SK Biopharmaceuticals said it entered a global licensing agreement with Biohaven Bioscience Ireland for the epilepsy drug candidate Opakalim and related Kv7 activator compounds, including the Kv7 discovery platform.
Under the deal, SK Biopharmaceuticals will pay Biohaven up to $795 million in total consideration. The initial payment totals $400 million, split into $350 million due at closing and an additional $50 million scheduled one year later. Remaining payments are tied to regulatory and commercial milestones, potentially reaching $395 million.
The agreement also includes tiered royalty payments to Biohaven based on net sales of products covered under the licensing terms. Financial terms were disclosed in a statement released Wednesday, with the announcement published on Aug. 26, 2026.
