SIX has launched SIX Market Signal, a real-time data service offering live bid-ask spreads for equities on Swiss, UK and 16 European Union exchanges. The offering, available to both institutional and retail investors, includes data from exchanges such as the SIX Swiss Exchange, BME in Spain, and the Aquis Exchange platform. For institutions, the data is designed to be accessible beyond traditional trading departments, enabling use in portfolio management, comparative analysis, and compliance functions. Retail investors in Switzerland can now directly access live market data, while broader EU and UK retail access is planned for future rollouts.
The core of the service is the 1BBO feed, which provides the most competitive buy and sell prices for each listed security. Beyond retail and institutional trading, the data is also intended for integration into financial technology applications, including AI-driven trading models and algorithmic platforms. SIX has cited fintech firms, banks, and brokerages as potential adopters, leveraging the API-enabled data for custom analytics and model development.
SIX, which operates exchanges in Switzerland and Spain and serves over 120 financial institutions, has positioned the service as part of its broader value proposition in securities, financial information, and payment processing. Institutional access is currently available, with Swiss retail customers able to subscribe immediately. Expansion to retail markets in the EU and UK is scheduled for later phases.
The offering reflects SIX’s strategic push to enhance its role as a data provider for European capital markets, supporting both traditional and digital financial services.
