Siemens Energy AG’s shares advanced 1.6% to €151.16 on Tuesday, outpacing gains in broader European and U.S. equity benchmarks.
The move followed an extraordinary supervisory board meeting to assess a potential majority stake sale or spin-off of the company’s Transformation of Industry division, a segment spanning industrial steam turbines, oil-sector compressors and hydrogen electrolyzers. Goldman Sachs has been engaged to solicit offers for a stake that could exceed €10 billion in valuation, according to sources cited in the discussion. The division generated approximately €5.7 billion in annual revenue at an operating margin near 14%.
A separation would allow Siemens Energy to refocus capital and management resources on its higher-returning Gas Services and Grid Technologies businesses, the company said. No definitive decision on the division was expected from the meeting, which was held to explore strategic alternatives.
Siemens Energy also reported a record third fiscal quarter, with comparable revenue rising 18.5% year-over-year to €11.45 billion. Order intake surged to a record €17.9 billion, while net profit more than doubled compared with the prior-year period. The company reaffirmed its full-year guidance, targeting profit margins toward the upper end of its forecasted range.
Analysts maintained a constructive stance on the stock. RBC Capital Markets maintained an Outperform rating on August 20, while the broader analyst community held a buy consensus with a 12-month average price target near €197.
European equities were set to post modest gains, with the DAX expected to rise about 0.3% and hold above 26,000 points. U.S. indices showed similar strength, with the S&P 500 up 0.3% and the Nasdaq gaining 0.6%.
