Schindler has divested its German AI real estate startup BuildingMinds to the Zurich-based property platform Lookthrough. The elevator and escalator manufacturer will become the largest institutional shareholder in Lookthrough as part of the deal.
The partnership aims to create a leading AI platform for decision-making intelligence in the real estate sector, according to a joint statement issued on Monday. BuildingMinds, headquartered in Berlin, will contribute its AI-driven data platform for managing real estate portfolios. The combined entity will reportedly hold the world’s largest institutional real estate dataset, encompassing over 100,000 buildings across 64 countries.
BuildingMinds will retain its brand and Berlin headquarters. Marek Sacha will continue as CEO during the transition phase before transitioning to the supervisory board. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026.
