Sagtec secures $3M order for 1,500 AI food-serving robots

Sagtec Global Limited said on Tuesday it secured a $3 million purchase order for 1,500 HALO AI Food-Serving Robots from SMD Tech FZCO, marking the company’s first large-scale commercial deployment of its robotics platform.

The HALO robots, designed to automate food and beverage delivery in restaurant and hospitality settings, integrate with ordering and point-of-sale systems and are intended to operate alongside human staff. The order covers deployment across SMD Tech’s customer network in the Middle East, according to the company.

Sagtec, which went public in March 2025, develops AI-assisted software solutions and enterprise technology platforms. Its Speed+ cloud-based ordering system currently serves more than 12,000 clients across Malaysia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East, the company said.

Ng Chen Lok, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sagtec, said the HALO AI platform represents the commercialization of the company’s robotics strategy. “We have moved from developing an AI robotics platform to deploying a standardized product at meaningful scale,” he said.

The HALO AI Food-Serving Robot was introduced in 2025 as part of Sagtec’s expansion into automation solutions for the hospitality industry. The company did not provide a timeline for delivery or specify revenue contribution from the order.
