Russian equities retreated at the close of Sunday trading in Moscow, with the benchmark MOEX Russia Index ending unchanged at 0.00%.
Declining issues outnumbered advancers by 192 to 38, with 18 stocks unchanged, as market breadth reflected broad-based weakness. The Russian Volatility Index held steady at 44.81, unchanged from the prior session.
Among individual movers, AFK Sistema PJSC led losses with a 3.12% decline to 7.89, followed by Magnit PJSC, which fell 3.12% to 1,586.00. PhosAgro PJSC shed 3.04% to 5,161.00. On the upside, Surgutneftegas PJSC’s preference shares slipped just 0.23% to 39.88, while Transneft PJSC’s preference shares declined 0.41% to 1,013.00.
Commodities showed mixed performance. Gold futures for December delivery advanced 1.97% to $4,661.60 per troy ounce. U.S. crude oil for October delivery fell 0.22% to $86.64 per barrel, while Brent crude for November delivery rose 0.16% to $92.67 per barrel.
The U.S. dollar strengthened 0.16% against the Russian ruble to 83.88, while the euro weakened 1.28% to 96.56. The U.S. Dollar Index futures were down 0.05% at 98.77.
