Russia stocks fall 4.29% as MOEX Index ends lower
Russian equities retreated on Thursday, with the MOEX Russia Index closing down 4.29% amid broad market weakness.

Russian shares declined on Thursday, with the benchmark MOEX Russia Index falling 4.29% to end at 2,850.12 points.
The drop extended losses across the session, reflecting broader market sentiment. Trading volume totaled 1.2 billion rubles ($13.2 million), down from the prior session’s 1.5 billion rubles.
Blue-chip stocks led the decline, with Sberbank and Gazprom both down more than 5%. Energy and financial sectors weighed on the index, as global oil prices slipped and investor caution persisted.
The ruble-denominated index has now fallen 8.1% over the past month, tracking declines in broader emerging market equities amid rising geopolitical tensions and concerns over global economic growth.
Analysts attributed the weakness to a combination of external headwinds, including tighter global monetary policy and reduced risk appetite among investors. No major corporate earnings or economic data releases were scheduled for the day to offset the negative momentum.
