Rubrik (NYSE: RBRK) has launched Rubrik MCP, a Model Context Protocol designed to connect AI agents to the company's data, identity, and application intelligence platform. The Palo Alto-based cybersecurity firm said one-third of its global customer base currently uses Rubrik AI.
Rubrik MCP provides AI agents with access to the Rubrik Security Cloud API schema, allowing teams to save multi-step recovery and compliance workflows as reusable tools across AI clients. The protocol was developed in collaboration with Anthropic, integrating the AI company's models with Rubrik's security framework. It includes role-based access control, configurable permissions, and guardrails aligned with OWASP MCP Top 10 standards.
The protocol is currently available in private preview for existing Rubrik customers, with general availability targeted for October 2026.
"We are seeing rapid growth with AI, and the addition of Rubrik MCP transforms security operations by seamlessly connecting customer AI agents directly into Rubrik's rich telemetry and governance framework," said Arvind Nithrakashyap, co-founder and chief technology officer at Rubrik.
Customers are already reporting tangible efficiency gains from Rubrik AI. Mpho Mongalo, a senior backup specialist at Datacentrix, said the platform provides instant summaries explaining backup failures and recommended solutions, eliminating the need for manual log review.
Rubrik, founded in 2014 and listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker RBRK, has been expanding its AI capabilities as demand grows for automated data protection and security operations. The MCP launch positions the firm to compete more directly in the growing market for AI-assisted cybersecurity workflows.
