Romania downs drone that breached airspace

Romanian military forces shot down an unidentified drone that violated national airspace near the Ukrainian border on Thursday, the Defense Ministry said.

The incident occurred in the northeastern region of Suceava, close to the frontier with Ukraine, where authorities have heightened surveillance amid ongoing regional instability. A statement from the ministry confirmed the interception but provided no further details on the drone’s origin or purpose.

Local media reported that the drone was detected and tracked before being neutralized by anti-aircraft measures. No civilian casualties or property damage were reported in the area.
