RLX Technology earnings report due amid international expansion
Chinese vaping firm RLX Technology to release quarterly results as it ramps up overseas sales. Investors assess growth prospects beyond domestic market.

RLX Technology, a leading Chinese e-cigarette manufacturer, is set to report its latest quarterly earnings on Wednesday, with market watchers focusing on the company’s accelerating international expansion.
The Shenzhen-based company, which listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 2020, has been expanding its presence in markets outside China as domestic regulatory pressures mount. RLX has cited Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Europe as key growth regions, where demand for vaping products has been rising despite varying degrees of regulatory scrutiny.
Analysts expect the earnings report to provide insights into RLX’s revenue trajectory, particularly in international markets where competition is intensifying. Revenue growth has slowed in recent quarters, reflecting broader challenges in the global vaping industry, including regulatory hurdles and shifting consumer preferences.
RLX reported a net loss of $12.5 million in the first quarter of 2024, narrower than the $18.7 million loss in the same period last year, as cost-cutting measures began to take effect. Revenue for the quarter totaled $112.3 million, down 15% year-over-year, according to company filings.
Investors will scrutinize the company’s guidance for the remainder of the year, particularly its ability to sustain international sales growth amid increasing competition from global brands and local manufacturers. RLX’s market share in China has declined as domestic competitors gain traction, further pressuring its domestic revenue stream.
The earnings release follows a series of strategic moves by RLX to diversify its revenue base, including partnerships with distributors in key international markets and investments in marketing to build brand recognition abroad. The company has also explored product diversification, though its core focus remains on vaping devices and e-liquids.
Market analysts will assess whether RLX’s international push can offset declines in its domestic market, where regulatory crackdowns on vaping have tightened over the past two years. The company’s ability to navigate these challenges will be critical in determining its long-term viability and investor sentiment.
