Rekor Systems Inc. has terminated its two remaining long-term real estate leases, one in the United States and another in Israel, as part of a broader cost-optimization initiative. The move eliminates $10 million in outstanding lease obligations while requiring a one-time cash payment of approximately $2.8 million.
The termination will remove related deposits, fixed assets, and right-of-use assets from the company’s balance sheet. Chief Financial Officer Joseph Nalepa stated that the action is a key step in executing a plan to structurally reduce the cost base and improve operating leverage.
The annualized savings from the lease terminations are projected at more than $2 million, according to Nalepa. The company develops data, privacy, and security solutions for video and sensor networks, with a focus on roadway intelligence platforms used by transportation agencies, law enforcement, and commercial operators.
Rekor Systems’ shares closed at $0.518 on Thursday, down 6.49% following the announcement.
