Precision Optics Corporation’s shares rose 5.2% to $4.40 on Tuesday after the company outlined plans to scale production of micro-optics for satellite communications, medical devices and defense systems at the Lytham Partners 2026 Consumer & Technology Investor Summit.
Chief Executive Joe Forkey told the summit that the company’s technology platform, which produces optics as small as 50 microns, is now entering a phase of commercial scaling after two programs reached volume production over the past 18 months. The smallest optic Precision Optics manufactures measures 50 microns, roughly the width of a human hair, and is assembled using specialized tools under microscope-level precision.
Revenue from a major satellite communications customer is expected to soften for about six months due to inventory adjustments, Forkey said. The customer, which operates low-Earth-orbit satellites on a three- to five-year replacement cycle, remains a sole-source supplier with no alternative vendor. The U.S. Space Development Agency is standardizing optical communication requirements, a development Forkey compared to the early days of internet standardization.
Precision Optics also reported progress in medical devices, scaling single-use cystoscopy units from about 1,000 units two years ago to roughly 45,000–50,000 units currently. A new ophthalmic surgery program began ramping in the current fiscal year. Single-use devices reduce cross-contamination risk and simplify hospital inventory management while delivering consistent image quality, the company said.
In defense, a long-running contract remains active with a new purchase order expected “almost any day,” Forkey said. Additional opportunities include laser weapons prototypes and drone systems. Precision Optics’ stock has traded between $3.60 and $6.20 over the past 52 weeks and carries a Street price target of $8 per share.
Newly appointed Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Peter Thier joined the company as Precision Optics shifts from early-stage development to scaled production across multiple high-growth markets.
