Portugal’s PSI index advanced 0.93% to a one-month high at the close of trade on Tuesday, as gains in utilities, consumer services and consumer goods sectors offset losses elsewhere. The Lisbon benchmark ended the session with 16 advancers against 8 decliners and 6 unchanged stocks.
EDP Energias de Portugal led advances, rising 3.17% to close at €4.66, while Galp Energia followed with a 2.29% gain to €21.47. Ibersol also posted a 1.86% increase to €9.84. On the downside, Banco Comercial Português slipped 0.18% to €1.10, EDP Renovaveis fell 0.15% to €13.57 and Mota Engil declined 0.13% to €4.49.
Brent crude for October delivery rose 0.59% to $91.41 per barrel, while U.S. crude for the same month increased 0.82% to $84.43. December gold futures, however, declined 1.12% to $4,423.55 per troy ounce. The euro held steady against the dollar, with EUR/USD flat at 1.16, while EUR/GBP remained unchanged at 0.86. The U.S. Dollar Index futures dipped 0.03% to 99.51.
