Portugal's main stock index closed higher on Friday, with the PSI advancing 0.44% as gains in financials, utilities and telecommunications offset declines elsewhere. Advancing stocks outnumbered decliners 14 to 10 on the Lisbon exchange, while five issues finished unchanged.
The PSI index gained 0.44% to end the session, while the U.S. dollar futures index fell 0.47% to 99.56. The euro weakened 0.51% against the dollar to trade at 1.16, while the euro-pound cross held steady at 0.86.
Among top performers, Banco Comercial Português rose 1.17% to 1.12, reaching a five-year high. EDP Renovaveis added 0.73% to 13.83, and Corticeira Amorim gained 0.71% to close at 7.07. Decliners included Ibersol Reg, which fell 0.58% to 10.36, and Jerónimo Martins, which slipped 0.17% to 17.97.
Brent crude oil futures for November delivery fell 0.58% to $88.01 per barrel, while October WTI crude declined 0.51% to $83.10. December gold futures dropped 2.17% to $4,562.81 per troy ounce.
