Poolbeg Pharma plc has confirmed that its TOPICAL clinical trial will continue as scheduled following a positive interim safety review of POLB 001, a preventative therapy for cytokine release syndrome.
The review, conducted on patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma receiving the bispecific antibody teclistamab, recommended no changes to the study protocol. Patient recruitment will proceed across clinical sites in the United Kingdom, with plans to enroll additional patients and activate more locations.
Jeremy Skillington, chief executive officer, said the data from the interim cohort represent a significant milestone for the trial. He added that the positive recommendation provides further confidence as the company advances its POLB 001 programme.
Poolbeg Pharma, which describes itself as a clinical‑stage biopharmaceutical company focused on cancer immunotherapy, is also continuing discussions with prospective partners regarding POLB 001. The firm hosts presentations for analysts and investors through the Investor Meet Company platform.
The company’s portfolio also includes an oral GLP‑1 therapy for obesity, though current operational focus remains on the TOPICAL trial.
