Polish equities closed higher on Friday, with the WIG30 index adding 0.51% as gains in basic materials and information technology offset losses in energy and consumer sectors.
The Warsaw-based index ended the session with 286 advancing issues, 237 declining and 112 unchanged. Basic materials and chemicals led sectoral advances, while consumer and utilities lagged.
Among the top performers, Dino Polska SA surged 7.71% to 34.78 zloty, while Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa SA rose 3.39% to 29.59 zloty. X-Trade Brokers Dom Maklerski SA gained 3.07% to 168.30 zloty in late trade.
The weakest performers included Benefit Systems SA, which fell 3.23% to 5,395.00 zloty, followed by Tauron Polska Energia SA down 2.02% at 8.25 zloty and Orlen SA, which declined 1.83% to 153.14 zloty.
Commodities showed mixed performance, with Brent crude up 0.36% to $94.12 a barrel and gold futures rising 2.01% to $4,663.44 per troy ounce. The Polish zloty weakened 0.13% versus the euro to 4.31, while the dollar-pair remained flat at 3.69.
