Options markets indicate Palo Alto Networks Inc. shares could fluctuate by 8.6% when the company reports third-quarter results on Sept. 1 after the market close, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
The cybersecurity provider has a mixed history of meeting or exceeding the options-implied move at earnings. In the past eight quarters, the stock has matched or surpassed the anticipated range four times, with the largest deviation occurring in November 2025, when the actual decline of 15.2% overshot the 7.3% implied move.
Recent quarters show similar variability. On June 2, the options-implied move was 8.0%, while the stock moved 7.6%. In February, the implied decline of 7.3% was exceeded by an 8.2% drop. The August 2025 report saw the stock rise 8.7% against a 7.0% implied move, while May 2025’s 6.3% decline fell short of the 7.0% expectation. The February 2025 earnings saw a 7.1% move against an 8.5% implied range, and November 2024’s 0.1% decline lagged behind the 7.9% expectation. The August 2024 report was an outlier, with the stock rising 11.0% versus a 9.6% implied move.
Palo Alto Networks closed at $350.90 on Aug. 24, down $6.97, or 1.95%, in recent trading.
