Orchestra BioMed's AVIM therapy is intended to be an 'always-on' treatment for patients with hypertension and heart failure risk. The BACKBEAT study, a global pivotal trial, has enrolled 284 patients, with primary efficacy data expected in the second quarter of 2025. The FDA submission for AVIM is expected around the same time. U.S. commercialization is anticipated in the first half of 2028, with a global rollout throughout 2028.
The MODERATO II pilot study for AVIM showed a 97% qualification rate for randomization, with an average 13.2-millimeter drop in ambulatory systolic blood pressure. The Virtue SAB, a sirolimus angioinfusion balloon, has shown promising results in the single-layer in-stent restenosis cohort, with a target lesion failure rate of 2.8% at one year, compared to 13.5% for Boston Scientific's AGENT balloon.
