Nvidia is in advanced talks to invest in Perplexity, an artificial intelligence startup, at a valuation exceeding $30 billion, according to a report by The Information.
The proposed financing round would represent a valuation increase of more than 50% compared with Perplexity’s prior funding round, which valued the company at approximately $20 billion a year ago. The round is expected to raise billions of dollars in new capital.
Perplexity’s financial performance has accelerated in recent months, with annualized revenue surpassing $750 million, up from less than $250 million at the start of the year. The company attributes part of this growth to Perplexity Computer, an AI agent designed for professionals to automate computer-based tasks.
The report, published on Sunday, follows a period of rapid expansion for Perplexity, which has emerged as a key player in the AI-driven search and productivity tools market. Nvidia’s potential investment underscores the intensifying competition among technology giants to secure strategic positions in the AI ecosystem.
