Nvidia is in advanced talks to invest in Perplexity, an AI startup, at a valuation exceeding $30 billion, according to a report by The Information. The potential investment would mark a more than 50% increase from the $20 billion valuation assigned during Perplexity’s previous funding round held roughly a year ago.
The proposed deal comes as Perplexity’s annualized revenue has surged to over $750 million, up from less than $250 million at the start of the year. The funding round is expected to raise billions of dollars, with Nvidia among the prospective investors exploring a strategic stake.
The discussions follow expanding commercial ties between Nvidia and Perplexity, particularly around the latter’s Perplexity Computer, an AI agent designed to automate professional computing tasks. The timing underscores the rapid growth trajectory of AI-driven enterprises and their reliance on high-performance hardware and infrastructure.
Negotiations are ongoing, and terms remain subject to change. A definitive agreement has not yet been reached.
