Standardized products and cost pressures continue to dominate the asset management sector, shifting the operational focus for many market participants. However, active management begins where consensus ends, according to Nannette Bettina Ducat of Lombard Odier Investment Managers.
Ducat notes that structural economic transformations present new alpha-generation opportunities for active managers. Rather than viewing active management strictly as an attempt to outperform a benchmark index, the strategy requires identifying opportunities created by broad industrial and economic transitions.
