Lindt & Sprüngli is intensifying cost-cutting measures, including the suspension of its annual ski weekend in Grindelwald and a potential cancellation of the company’s Christmas party this year.
A company spokesperson confirmed the changes on Wednesday, stating that operational dismissals are not currently planned. Hiring remains restricted, with internal alternatives examined before new positions are approved. The measures follow a sharp rise in cocoa prices since late 2023, prompting the introduction of efficiency and savings programs to mitigate cost pressures on consumers.
The company has faced heightened scrutiny since releasing its half-year results in July. While the full-year outlook was maintained, Lindt & Sprüngli reported significant sales declines in the first six months, as elevated product prices deterred buyers. The group did not disclose the total savings target or specify additional areas affected by the cost reductions.
