John Marshall Bancorp Inc. (JMSB) shares rose 2.44% to $23.52 in morning trading, approaching the 52-week high of $24.26 and comfortably above the opening price of $23.35.
The advance follows the company’s board approval of a one-year extension to its share repurchase program, which now runs through August 31, 2027. The total authorization remains unchanged at up to 700,000 shares of outstanding common stock, a program initially approved in 2021. Since then, the company has repurchased 242,150 shares for approximately $4.5 million.
In addition to the buyback extension, John Marshall Bancorp declared a quarterly dividend of $0.10 per share, an 11% increase from the prior quarter and a 33% rise on an annualized basis compared with a year ago.
The gains in JMSB shares mirrored broader market strength, with U.S. equities advancing after the Treasury Department announced it would more than double the size of its long-dated debt buyback operations, pushing bond yields lower. Investor sentiment also improved following President Trump’s decision to pause planned tariffs on certain Canadian imports.
