Japan's top currency diplomat warned on Thursday that authorities continue to maintain a heightened state of alert regarding foreign exchange market developments, signaling persistent concern over the yen's trajectory.
Atsushi Mimura, vice-minister of Finance for international affairs, told reporters he remains "neither satisfied nor at ease" with recent market dynamics. He declined to comment on specific exchange rate levels or individual currency movements, underscoring the cautious stance adopted by policymakers.
Mimura emphasized that Japan's foreign exchange monitoring remains at an elevated alert level, reflecting ongoing vigilance amid shifting global financial conditions. The remarks come as the yen continues to face pressure in currency markets, prompting close scrutiny from authorities.
