Israeli shares retreated at the close of trade on Monday, with the benchmark TA 35 index falling 1.09% as losses in technology, real estate and communications sectors offset gains elsewhere.
The decline came as declining stocks outnumbered advancers by 284 to 182, with 93 issues unchanged. The TA 35 ended at 11,890.00 points, down from the prior session’s close.
Among the index’s top gainers, the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange itself rose 3.48%, adding 400 points to finish at 11,890.00. ICL Israel Chemicals gained 2.84% to 1,737.00, while Delek Group advanced 1.95% to 8,674.00.
Technology names led the declines. Nova slumped 8.07%, or 9,460 points, to 107,740.00, while Camtek fell 7.82% to 41,830.00. Tower Semiconductor dropped 5.28% to 63,920.00.
Elsewhere in markets, Brent crude for November delivery fell 2.12% to $90.71 a barrel, while West Texas Intermediate for October delivery declined 2.50% to $84.88. Gold futures for December delivery rose 0.96% to $4,725.34 per troy ounce. The U.S. dollar index futures were up 0.18% at 98.91, while the shekel strengthened 0.47% against the dollar to 3.00 and 0.34% versus the euro to 3.50.
