Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Monday that Tehran remains committed to finding a negotiated solution to its conflict with the United States, despite recent escalations between the two countries.
Pezeshkian made the remarks during a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The Iranian leader emphasized that continued hostilities serve no party’s interests and reiterated that dialogue and cooperation are the only viable path to resolving existing disputes.
The statement follows a series of clashes between Iran and the U.S., which have intensified in recent weeks. Pezeshkian’s comments were delivered amid high-level diplomatic engagements at the SCO summit, where regional leaders discussed security and economic cooperation. The summit, held in Bishkek, brought together officials from member states including Pakistan, whose defense chief, General Asim Munir, also held discussions with Iranian counterparts earlier in the week.
The Iranian president’s remarks were reported by the semi-official Tasnim news agency, with the report filed from Dubai. The SCO summit concluded on Monday, with no immediate indication of a breakthrough in U.S.-Iran relations.
