Iranian security chief Mohsen Rezaei publicly dismissed reports that Tehran was planning to assassinate Barron Trump, the youngest son of U.S. President Donald Trump. Rezaei made the denial during a televised interview aired on Lebanon's Al Manar TV on Thursday.
The U.S. Secret Service had earlier said it was aware of a video broadcast by Iranian state television that discussed a potential plot against the boy. Rezaei called the allegations false and said no such operation existed.
In the same interview, Rezaei said mediators had asked Iran to specify conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz. He indicated Tehran was preparing a list that includes ending regional hostilities and establishing a shipping corridor with Oman that would run through both Omani and Iranian waters. Under those terms, ships could use a central channel in the strait, provided the United States meets Iran's demands.
