In the statement, Khamenei ordered authorities to refrain from making discouraging remarks that could weaken public and national motivation, according to the report. The decree was published the same day an image showed Khamenei attending a meeting before formally assuming office as supreme leader on August 24, 2026.
The directive follows a period of heightened domestic scrutiny amid reports of public dissent and economic strain. The statement did not specify enforcement mechanisms or penalties for violations of the ban on acts prejudicing social cohesion.
