IBM announced two new beta capabilities for its Digital Asset Haven platform, a blockchain‑based solution aimed at tokenized financial assets.
The first offering, a beta ISO 20022 Messaging Adapter, links Digital Asset Haven clients to Swift's shared blockchain ledger. The adapter lets institutions process tokenized deposit transactions using the standard ISO 20022 payment message format rather than bespoke blockchain workflows. Swift’s network spans roughly 12,500 financial institutions in more than 200 markets, and 17 institutions are currently piloting tokenized deposits on the ledger.
The second development is an on‑premises beta deployment option. Built on IBM Z and IBM LinuxONE hardware, the solution runs inside a client’s data centre and does not depend on public cloud services. It mirrors the SaaS and hybrid versions in architecture, APIs and workflows, and incorporates hardware‑backed security via IBM Crypto Express HSMs. IBM cites internal testing that targets 99.999999% availability for the on‑premises configuration.
Tom McPherson, General Manager of IBM Z and LinuxONE, said the financial‑services sector is entering a phase where tokenized and traditional assets must move side by side. Financial institutions interested in the on‑premises beta can join a waitlist.
J.P. Morgan Payments data referenced in the announcement indicate that 93% of financial institutions are modernising their payments infrastructure.
