Guanajuato Silver Company Ltd. (TSXV: GSVR, OTCQX: GSVRF) has appointed Colin Bower as its new chief operating officer, effective September 9, 2026. Bower brings over three decades of experience in the mining sector, with a focus on operational efficiency, safety, and strategic growth across major assets in Mexico and Chile.
Bower’s tenure will center on overseeing Guanajuato Silver’s four silver-gold operations in the State of Guanajuato, as well as its Topia mine in Durango, which produces silver, gold, lead, and zinc concentrates. His responsibilities will include ensuring operational performance, productivity, and the execution of growth initiatives. The appointment follows a recent decline in the company’s stock, which closed at 0.435 CAD on November 9, down 2.25% from the previous day.
Bower’s career spans leadership roles at industry heavyweights, including First Majestic Silver Corp., Barrick Gold Corp., and BHP. From 2021 to 2025, he served as vice-president of operations at First Majestic, where he led the optimization of underground mines in Chile, including San Dimas, Santa Elena, and La Encantada, contributing to increased milling rates and improved safety performance. Previously, he held executive roles at Barrick Nevada and Nevada Gold Mines, where he managed growth and strategic operations. His early career included stints at KGHM and BHP, including leadership positions at the Sierra Gorda Mine in Chile, the Robinson Mine in Nevada, and the Escondida Mine.
Guanajuato Silver operates a portfolio of assets in Mexico and Chile, with a particular emphasis on silver production. The company’s operations are critical to its strategy of expanding output amid rising demand for precious metals. With Bower’s appointment, the company aims to strengthen its operational capabilities and capitalize on its existing assets to support long-term growth.
The appointment comes at a time when Guanajuato Silver’s stock has faced volatility, reflecting broader market conditions in the precious metals sector. Analysts and investors will now focus on Bower’s ability to drive operational improvements and capitalize on Mexico’s growing mining potential.
