GoodRx introduced Companion, a subscription-based healthcare program designed for families, offering 250 generic medications at no cost alongside discounted telehealth, vision, dental and lab services. The individual version of Companion, previously available directly to consumers, costs $14.99 per month, while the family plan is priced at $24.99 monthly.
The program is scheduled to launch as an employee benefit in January 2027, with employers able to subsidize membership fees for their workforce. GoodRx did not specify the extent of employer contributions, noting that employees would cover any remaining portion of the subscription cost.
Company CEO Wendy Barnes highlighted the program’s relevance amid rising healthcare affordability challenges. She stated that high deductibles, out-of-pocket expenses and coverage restrictions mean that insurance coverage does not always ensure affordable access to care. Barnes emphasized that financial pressure on insured consumers can be as consequential as uninsured status, noting that even insured individuals may face prescription costs they cannot afford.
GoodRx reported a 39% year-over-year increase in subscription revenue during the second quarter. The Business Group on Health projects that employer healthcare costs in the U.S. will rise by 9.2% in 2027 without intervention to control expenses. The program was announced on September 3, 2026.
