Goldman Sachs has acquired the Bitcoin income ETF business of NEOS Investments for $2.25 billion, expanding its derivative platform to $130 billion in total ETF assets.
The transaction marks Goldman’s strategic entry into the bitcoin income ETF market, positioning the bank to compete directly with BlackRock’s BITA fund. Analysts note the deal underscores growing institutional interest in bitcoin-backed income products as a new asset class.
NEOS Investments, a specialist in structured investment solutions, will transfer its Bitcoin Income ETF operations to Goldman Sachs under the terms of the agreement. The ETFs in question are designed to provide investors with exposure to bitcoin while generating income through derivatives strategies.
The acquisition follows a broader trend of traditional financial institutions entering the digital asset space, particularly in regulated income-generating products. Bitcoin income ETFs have gained traction in recent quarters as institutional investors seek yield-generating alternatives amid low interest rate environments.
Goldman Sachs’ move aligns with its push to expand its asset management and ETF platform, which now includes a dedicated bitcoin income ETF suite. The bank did not disclose further financial terms or integration timelines beyond the initial $2.25 billion valuation.
