Gol Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes S.A. announced the appointment of André Fehlauer as its new chief executive officer, effective immediately.
Fehlauer, previously an executive at rival carrier Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras, succeeds Paulo Kakinoff, who stepped down in March. The board approved the decision following a review of leadership succession plans, the company said in a statement.
Fehlauer brings over two decades of experience in the aviation sector, including roles in operations, commercial strategy and fleet management. His tenure at Azul included oversight of network planning and partnerships, according to industry records.
The appointment follows Gol’s recent financial restructuring and amid a broader recovery in Brazil’s air travel demand. The airline has faced pressure from rising fuel costs and competition in the domestic market, which has weighed on profitability.
Gol did not disclose additional details regarding Fehlauer’s compensation or the duration of his initial term. The company remains listed on the B3 exchange under the ticker GOLL4.
