GitLab Inc. Class A shares could swing approximately 14% when the software company releases its next quarterly earnings report after the market close on Sept. 1, according to options data compiled by Bloomberg.
Historical data shows mixed accuracy in the options market’s ability to predict GitLab’s stock movement following earnings. In two of the company’s past eight earnings announcements, the actual price change exceeded the implied move. On June 2, shares rose 15.7% compared with an implied move of 13.7%, while on Sept. 3, 2024, the stock climbed 14.9% against an implied move of 14.0%. In the remaining six reports, the actual price change fell short of the options-implied expectation.
The most recent earnings release on March 3 resulted in a 4.2% price change, below the 13.3% implied move at the time. GitLab’s next report will be released after the market close on Sept. 1, with investors closely watching for updates on revenue growth, profitability and guidance.
