Weeks of intense heat and persistent dryness severely damaged agricultural yields across Germany this year, prompting a bleak harvest assessment from the German Farmers' Association (Bauernverband).
The association reported that extreme weather conditions scorched crops throughout the country, with the geographical location of farms proving to be a decisive factor in weathering the dry spell to an extent rarely seen before.
