Ferrari’s electric concept car Luce was sold for $40 million at a charity auction, the company confirmed on Thursday.
The one-off vehicle, unveiled in September 2023, was auctioned to raise funds for children’s education initiatives. Ferrari did not disclose the buyer’s identity.
Luce, a fully electric concept car, was designed as a futuristic reinterpretation of Ferrari’s classic 250 GT California. The vehicle features a sleek, aerodynamic body with a panoramic glass roof and a minimalist interior centered around a large touchscreen display.
The auction took place during the annual Ferrari Finali Mondiali event in Mugello, Italy, where the Italian automaker showcased its latest models and innovations. Proceeds from the sale will support educational programs for underprivileged children globally.
Ferrari has not indicated plans to produce Luce as a production model, positioning it instead as a showcase of its electric and design capabilities.
