FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) on Sep. 9 announced a new suite of digital tools designed to help businesses navigate the complexities of international shipping, drawing on findings from its 2026 Small Business Trade Index.
The Memphis-based logistics company said 68% of small- and medium-sized enterprises regularly encounter customers surprised by duties at delivery, while 60% report losing revenue through refunds or abandoned purchases. The new tools are intended to give shippers greater visibility into costs and regulatory requirements before packages cross borders.
At the core of the launch is Global Trade Navigator, a portal aggregating several offerings. The free FedEx Trade Planner, available on fedex.com without requiring a login, lets businesses look up Harmonized System codes, estimated duties, taxes and fees. An enhanced version of FedEx Ship Manager now includes features for reviewing product classifications, customs values and country-of-manufacture details.
For merchants operating on Shopify, FedEx introduced a Duty and Tax app that displays duty and tax guarantees during checkout. Global Trade APIs, accessible through the FedEx Developer Portal, allow companies to integrate product classifications and regulatory information into their own systems. Updates to the FedEx Import Tool and FedEx Reporting help customers track customs clearance activity, identify required actions, manage payments and access global import and export data.
"International shipping requires businesses to make complex decisions long before a package begins its journey," said Jason Brenner, senior vice president of digital portfolio at FedEx. "Building on decades of global trade expertise, Global Trade Navigator makes critical trade information and guidance more accessible to businesses as they grow internationally."
FedEx reports annual revenue of approximately $86 billion and employs more than 450,000 people worldwide. The company has stated a goal of achieving carbon-neutral operations by 2040.
