Ethan Allen Interiors Inc. (NYSE: ETD) shares advanced 4.5% in after-hours trading on Wednesday after the company announced a $3.00 per share special cash dividend.
The total payout amounts to approximately $76 million, with the record date scheduled for September 3, 2026, and payment set for September 17, 2026. The company reiterated its debt-free financial position, emphasizing strong cash generation and sustained profitability as key drivers behind the decision.
Over the past decade, Ethan Allen has returned over $402 million to shareholders through cash dividends, including more than $46 million in fiscal 2026 and $50 million in fiscal 2025. The company reported a consolidated gross margin of 61.2% and an operating margin of 7.8% in fiscal 2026, generating $52 million in cash from operating activities. Additionally, it repurchased 250,000 shares during the fourth quarter of the same fiscal year.
Operating 171 retail design centers in North America—141 company-operated and 30 independently owned—Ethan Allen manufactures roughly 75% of its furniture across eleven North American plants. The company plans to open five new design centers in the near term, while marketing expenditures have risen by 13% annually over the past two years. In August 2026, it introduced a promotional offer providing additional savings of up to 25%.
