Dutch equities closed higher on Friday, with the AEX index rising 0.81% to 991.40 in Amsterdam, as gains in financials, basic materials and oil & gas sectors offset losses in technology and consumer stocks.
Advancing issues outnumbered decliners by 70 to 26 on the Amsterdam exchange, with 10 stocks unchanged. Sector performance showed broad-based strength, though volatility remained subdued at 21.09, unchanged from the prior session.
Among the top gainers, specialty chemicals distributor IMCD NV led with a 2.46% advance to 99.14, followed by insurer ASR Nederland NV at 72.40 (+2.32%) and bank ABN AMRO Group NV at 41.68 (+2.01%).
The index’s laggards included health technology group Koninklijke Philips NV, which fell 0.60% to 23.08, semiconductor equipment maker ASM International NV at 825.80 (-0.19%) and private equity firm CVC Capital Partners PLC at 14.74 (-0.07%).
Commodities showed mixed performance, with October WTI crude oil futures down 0.56% to $83.06 per barrel and November Brent crude down 0.63% to $87.96. December gold futures declined 2.15% to $4,563.89 per troy ounce.
The euro weakened 0.51% against the dollar to 1.16, while the US Dollar Index futures rose 0.47% to 99.55. The euro held steady versus the British pound at 0.86.
