The Netherlands' AEX Index closed 0.81% higher on Friday, reflecting a day of broad-based gains across the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
Advancing issues outpaced decliners by a margin of 70 to 26, with 10 stocks unchanged. The AEX Volatility index held steady at 21.09, unchanged from the prior session.
Gains were concentrated in the finance, basic materials and oil and gas sectors, which offset modest declines in technology and industrial names. The AEX Volatility index remained flat at 21.09.
Among the top performers, specialty chemicals distributor IMCD NV rose 2.46% to close at €99.14, while insurer ASR Nederland NV gained 2.32% to reach €72.40, marking a record high. ABN AMRO Group NV advanced 2.01% to €41.68.
On the downside, Koninklijke Philips NV fell 0.60% to €23.08, ASM International NV slipped 0.19% to €825.80, and private equity firm CVC Capital Partners PLC declined 0.07% to €14.74.
Commodities traded lower, with Brent crude oil for November delivery down 0.62% at $87.97 per barrel and U.S. West Texas Intermediate for October delivery down 0.55% at $83.07 per barrel. December gold futures fell 2.11% to $4,565.49 per troy ounce.
The euro weakened 0.51% against the dollar, trading at $1.16, while the U.S. Dollar Index futures declined 0.46% to 99.55.
