The US dollar fell below R$5.10 against the Brazilian real on Thursday, continuing a slide that saw the currency close lower by 0.91% the previous session at R$5.1065.
At 9:09 a.m., the spot dollar was quoted at R$5.0748 for sale, down 0.62%. The B3 futures contract for October delivery dropped 0.39% to trade at R$5.1050.
The move against the real matched a broader retreat of the US dollar across most other currencies overseas.
Brazilian investors were looking ahead to a new presidential election poll expected later Thursday, which could influence sentiment around the country's macro outlook.
The Central Bank also scheduled a swap auction at 11:30 a.m., offering 50,000 swap contracts for the rollover of the October 1 maturity date.
