Denmark’s benchmark equity gauge closed lower on Wednesday, with the OMX Copenhagen 20 declining 0.74% as losses in energy and technology shares outweighed gains in banking and consumer stocks.
Declining issues outnumbered advancers by 79 to 41 on the Copenhagen exchange, with 15 stocks unchanged. The index’s retreat reflected broad weakness across the oil & gas, technology and software & computer services sectors.
Among the top performers, Rockwool AS B rose 1.71% to 214.00, while AL Sydbank A/S added 1.61% to 663.50, setting a record high. Carlsberg A/S B also advanced 1.25% to 889.80.
Zealand Pharma A/S led decliners, falling 3.67% to 314.90, followed by Coloplast A/S, which slipped 2.01% to 454.20. AP Moeller - Maersk A/S A fell 1.98% to 20,820.00.
Crude oil futures edged higher, with October WTI up 0.04% at $82.39 per barrel and November Brent rising 0.06% to $87.32. December gold futures, however, declined 0.94% to $4,650.51 per troy ounce.
The U.S. dollar strengthened 0.20% against the Danish krone to 6.42, while the euro-dollar pair was little changed at 7.48. The U.S. Dollar Index futures rose 0.26% to 99.10.
