Danish equities closed higher on Monday, with the OMX Copenhagen 20 index advancing 0.41% as gains in consumer goods and oil & gas sectors offset declines in pharmaceutical and industrial names.
Advancing stocks outnumbered decliners 74 to 51, with 14 issues unchanged. The index’s rise was supported by a 5.45% gain in Coloplast A/S, which closed at 462.50 DKK. AP Moeller - Maersk A/S A and B shares both reached three-year highs, rising 3.86% and 3.75% to 21,540.00 DKK and 22,430.00 DKK, respectively.
Zealand Pharma led decliners with a 3.67% drop to 309.40 DKK, followed by Genmab’s 1.81% decline to 2,112.00 DKK and NKT Holding’s 0.70% fall to 926.50 DKK.
Commodities showed mixed performance. Crude oil futures for October delivery fell 3.00% to $84.45 per barrel, while Brent crude for November delivery declined 2.57% to $90.29. Gold futures for December delivery rose 1.08% to $4,731.10 per troy ounce.
The Danish krone strengthened 0.08% against the U.S. dollar to 6.41 DKK per USD, while the euro-dollar cross remained flat at 7.48 DKK per EUR. The U.S. Dollar Index futures fell 0.14% to 98.87.
