CVR Energy Inc. shares advanced to a 52-week high of $41.70 on Friday, extending a multi-month rally driven by robust refining and fertilizer operations and stronger commodity prices.
The stock reached an intraday peak of $41.66, according to trading data, while its 52-week low stands at $19.62. Year-to-date gains have totaled 57.26%, with a six-month return of 65.59% and a 12-month increase of 36.5%.
The company reported second-quarter adjusted earnings of $0.34 per share, exceeding Wall Street estimates of $0.12 per share. Revenue for the period climbed to $2.74 billion, supported by strong cash generation across its refinery and fertilizer segments. Favorable commodity market conditions contributed to the outperformance, though costs related to renewable fuel compliance and hedging losses partially offset gains.
Shares of CVR Energy are held by Icahn Enterprises, which has seen its investment funds decline 18.2% in the first half of 2026. The value of Icahn’s holdings fell to $2.0 billion by June 30, down from $2.9 billion at the same point in 2024. The firm reported a $591 million net loss for the period, attributed to energy and broad market hedging strategies.
S&P Global Ratings downgraded Icahn Enterprises to 'B+' from 'BB-' earlier this year, reflecting broader pressures on its investment portfolio.
