Core Scientific, Inc. (NASDAQ:CORZ), a provider of high-density colocation services for artificial intelligence-related workloads, has appointed Jay Elms as chief commercial officer. The appointment, announced on September 25, 2026, marks a strategic move to strengthen the company’s customer engagement and deployment capabilities, particularly in the rapidly growing AI infrastructure sector.
Elms brings over 20 years of sales and commercial leadership experience in the data center industry. Most recently, he served as senior vice president of global sales at CyrusOne, where he led commercial engagements with hyperscale and wholesale clients. Prior to that, he spent nearly seven years as vice president of global sales at NTT Global Data Centers Americas, overseeing similar roles at View, Schneider Electric, and Siemens. His background aligns closely with Core Scientific’s focus on serving AI-driven workloads and expanding its network of 11 facilities across seven U.S. states—including Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Elms holds an MBA in Finance from the SMU Cox School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in construction science from Texas A&M University. His appointment follows Core Scientific’s emphasis on revenue diversification, with the majority of its income derived from high-density colocation services—a core offering for AI workloads—and smaller contributions from digital asset hosting and mining services.
The company’s strategy to attract and retain hyperscale customers—such as those deploying AI models—will be central to Elms’s role. With AI infrastructure adoption accelerating, Core Scientific’s expansion of its colocation footprint and commercial expertise positions it to capitalize on this trend.
