Complete Genomics said on Wednesday it appointed Lauren Selig to its board of directors, effective upon the completion of its pending acquisition by Swiss Rockets AG.
The acquisition, approved by Swiss Rockets’ board and shareholders, remains subject to clearance by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, though it has already received approval from Chinese regulators. MGI Tech shareholders also approved the transaction, which is expected to close in the coming months.
Swiss Rockets, an incubator and accelerator specializing in biotech and precision healthcare—particularly oncology—will appoint Dr. Vladimir Cmiljanovic as chairman and CEO of Complete Genomics upon closing. Cmiljanovic, founder and CEO of Swiss Rockets, said Selig’s appointment strengthens the company’s strategic direction in frontier technologies and global innovation.
Selig, founder of Shake and Bake Productions, brings expertise in artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and emerging technologies to the board. Her investment fund has backed companies including LILA, Starcloud, Impulse Space, and Colossal, while she serves on the boards of XPRIZE, Pendrell, and Renatus Tactical Acquisition Corp. (NASDAQ: RTAC).
Beyond her business ventures, Selig has produced Academy Award-winning films such as Rocketman and Hacksaw Ridge, as well as Everest, Lone Survivor, and Amazon’s The Wheel of Time.
