China's Moonshot Connects Kimi AI Model to Major Financial Data Providers

Chinese AI startup Moonshot announced Thursday that it is rolling out "Kimi for financial services," a version of its Kimi K3 model that gives users direct access to data from major industry providers including S&P Global Market Intelligence, Crunchbase, Wind, Tianyancha and several local financial-news outlets.

The startup said financial-sector clients already include investment bank CICC and venture-capital firm Hong Shan, formerly known as Sequoia China. Moonshot added that Kimi can also pull data directly from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's EDGAR system for public-company filings, as well as from the IMF, the World Bank and the Federal Reserve Economic Data site.

Different data sets appear available depending on subscription tier, according to a test on Kimi's mobile app. Monthly subscriptions start at 49 yuan ($7.31) and climb to 699 yuan ($104.23).

"The real inflection point really is the combination of stronger AI capabilities with professional expertise," Samuel Fischer, Beijing branch manager at Deutsche Bank, told a promotional video published by Moonshot. "AI companies that understand real financial workflows and can deliver reliability and data security will be particularly well positioned to contribute to this transformation." It was not immediately clear whether Deutsche Bank is a Kimi client.

Moonshot released the Kimi K3 model in July, positioning it against offerings from leading U.S. AI firms. The company has reportedly filed confidentially for a Hong Kong IPO but has declined to comment on market rumors.
