Charbone Corporation said Monday it has taken delivery of a core electrolyzer for the Sorel-Tracy hydrogen production facility in Quebec, marking a milestone in the expansion of its Phase 1B operations.
The electrolyzer, now on site, will undergo positioning, installation, and integration into existing infrastructure, followed by mechanical and electrical connections, testing, and commissioning ahead of commercial operation. Civil construction at the Sorel-Tracy site began earlier this summer, and the company reiterated that a previously announced fall launch timeline remains on track.
The facility’s industrial gas platform produces and distributes hydrogen, helium, and oxygen, with gas income in the preliminary second quarter reported at approximately C$0.5 million, up 155% quarter-over-quarter from about C$0.2 million in the first quarter. Charbone’s market capitalization stood at roughly C$38 million, with shares trading at C$0.13 at the time of the announcement.
The Sorel-Tracy site includes Phase 1A, which is already operational, and Phase 1B, now advancing with the electrolyzer delivery. The company, headquartered in Malmö, Sweden, is listed on the TSX Venture Exchange under the ticker TSXV:CH, on the OTCQB in the United States as CHHYF, and on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange as FSE:K47.
