Calian Group Ltd. (TSX: CGY) said it has completed the acquisition of Galaxy Broadband Communications for a total consideration of C$51.5 million, with an upfront payment of approximately C$24 million and an additional C$27.5 million subject to customary closing conditions.
The transaction was announced on June 26, 2024 and closed on August 19, 2024, following Crown Capital Partners Inc.’s secured subordinated debentures amendments approved on August 11, 2024. Calian, headquartered in Ottawa, Ontario, operates in defense, space, healthcare and critical infrastructure sectors with more than 6,000 employees globally.
Galaxy Broadband, based in Mississauga, Ontario, has provided satellite communications and remote connectivity solutions for over 30 years. The company specializes in low Earth orbit satellite deployment, private wireless networks and multi-orbit connectivity, serving government, defense, critical infrastructure and remote community customers, particularly in Canada’s Arctic and Northern regions.
