Blau Farmacêutica misses H1 2026 earnings, shares rise 9.1%
Brazilian pharmaceutical firm Blau reported first-half 2026 results below expectations, yet its stock gained on margin outlook and cost-control measures.

Shares in Blau Farmacêutica surged 9.1% on Wednesday after the Brazilian drugmaker posted first-half 2026 earnings that fell short of market forecasts, though executives highlighted improved margins and ongoing cost discipline.
The company’s H1 2026 net profit declined year-over-year, reflecting weaker sales in its core generics segment and higher input costs. Revenue for the period totaled 1.2 billion reais ($230 million), down 4.2% from the same period in 2025. Gross margin expanded to 38.7%, up from 35.1% a year earlier, as Blau implemented pricing adjustments and reduced operational expenses.
Chief Executive Officer Ricardo Blau noted that the company’s inventory optimization and strategic divestments had helped offset pricing pressures in key markets. "While top-line growth remains challenging, we are prioritizing margin preservation and cash generation," he said during an earnings call. The firm maintained its full-year 2026 guidance for adjusted EBITDA of 500-520 million reais.
Analysts at XP Investimentos downgraded Blau to ‘hold’ from ‘buy’, citing the earnings miss and macroeconomic headwinds in Brazil. However, some investors viewed the stock’s rise as a vote of confidence in the company’s cost management and long-term pipeline.
Blau Farmacêutica’s shares, which had fallen 15% year-to-date prior to the report, pared losses after the results and closed 9.1% higher at 18.75 reais. Trading volume more than doubled the 30-day average as retail investors reacted to the earnings release.
